You've often heard of designer shoes, but you're not going to find that here. Instead, you're looking at a designer pen whose hardware is designed by the accomplished pen designer David Broadwell. Instead, you're looking at a designer pen whose hardware is designed by the accomplished pen designer David Broadwell. It features custom casted 3-D Art Deco design components, premium plating, and a Swarovski Crystal.

Hand-Crafted from the sapwood and heartwood of Amboyna Burl, the pen showcases one of the most fascinating colour and grain pattern found in nature. From the yellow sapwood to the deep dark red heartwood to the natural presence and imperfections from the bark, the swirly grain paints a masterpiece. It is interesting to note that Amboyna is technically not a distinct species, but is the name of the burl wood from any of the Pterocarpus species, most commonly Narra (Pterocarpus indicus) and Burma Padauk (Pterocarpus macrocarpus). Both of these trees are native to South-East Asia.

The pen's wood body has a barrel shape and is finished with Pure Tung Oil and Carnauba-based Wax. The Tung Oil penetrates the wood to emphasize the grain and colour. The oil does not contain artificial thinners or cure-accelerants and is approved for food-contact items. The Carnauba-based wax forms a light 'skin' finish which serves as an additional layer of protection. The combination of the two finishes emphasize the beauty of the wood while preserving its natural feel.

Both the rollerball and fountain pen hardware components are cast, polished and plated with a durable two micron 22k gold plate and rhodium. The threads at the back of the pen allow you to attach the cap giving you extra length and balance.

The rollerball pen comes with a fine-tipped (0.6mm) ceramic roller refill from Schmidt. The rollerball tip ensures smooth and even lines to your hand-writing.

The fountain pen comes with an Iridium Point medium nib manufactured in Germany and takes an ink well or a prefilled cartridge. The pen is uninked and will ship with the ink well attachment only. The prefilled cartridges are susceptible to damage in cold temperatures and therefore are not shipped to protect your purchase.

To access the refill or the ink, simply unscrew the tip from the middle. In case of the rollerball pen, make sure you don't lose the spring that goes at the end of the refill.

Customization for this pen is available. Customization comes in the form of an inscription of up to 5 words that will be burnt onto the wood in one or two lines matching, as closely as possible, the font you provide. To have your pen customized, simply select 'Customize Cap' or 'Customize Body' in the customization option and upload an image with your text.

This pen is a luxury of writing instruments and you'll be envied by everyone. complementary velvet pouch is included with the purchase; the pen holder in the images is sold separately.

Note: the dimensions are shown as length of closed pen by height of pen at clip by largest diameter of the wooden body.
