Executive pens that are joy to write with, fascinating to look at, and privilege to own! Simply unscrew the cap and write away!

Crafted from a piece of historic corduroy road wood that was discovered in uptown Waterloo during the Light Rail Transit system consturction in 2016. It is believed that the corduroy road has been built between 1790 and 1816 and comprised of elm and cedar trees. Although no official identification has been made, the wood resembles cedar.

The wood has been air-dried and then stabilized; however, this may only slow down the decay process to which it was exposed for over 200 years.

A numbered certificate accompanies every pen made from the corduroy road wood. Please note, the number of writing instruments created is limited.

The wood is turned to a barrel shape with any and all imperfections kept in place. The wood was then finished with Pure Tung Oil and Carnauba-based Wax. The Tung Oil penetrates the wood to emphasize the grain and colour. The oil does not contain artificial thinners or cure-accelerants and is approved for food-contact items. The Carnauba-based wax forms a light 'skin' finish which serves as an additional layer of protection. The combination of the two finishes emphasize the beauty of the wood while preserving its natural feel.

The hardware has chrome finish and it comes in Rollerball or Fountain pen style. The threads at the back allow you to attach the cap for extra lenght and balance.

The rollerball pen comes with a fine-tipped (0.6mm) ceramic roller refill from Schmidt. The rollerball tip ensures smooth and even lines to your hand-writing.

The fountain pen comes with an Iridium Point medium nib manufactured in Germany and takes a prefilled cartridge only. The pen is uninked and will ship without the cartridge as they are susceptible to damage in cold temperatures; therefore, they are not shipped to protect your purchase.

To access the refill or ink cartridge, simply unscrew the tip from the middle.

Customization for this pen is available, but not recommended due to the dark colour of the wood. Customization comes in the form of an inscription of up to 5 words that will be burnt onto the wood in one or two lines matching, as closely as possible, the font you provide. To have your pen customized, simply select 'Customize Cap' or 'Customize Body' in the customization option and upload an image with your text.

This pen is a luxury of writing instruments and you'll be envied by everyone. Complimentary velvet pouch is included with the purchase; the pen holder in the images is sold separately.

Note: the dimensions are shown as length of closed pen by height of pen at clip by largest diameter of the wooden body.
