Not only that, the Bog Oak wood from Ukraine is equally stunning. Bog Oak is essentially an oak tree that has been buried in an acidic environment for over 5000 years. The acidic environment slowly pigments the entire tree black. This is a natural phenomenon and no stains, dyes, or artificial colours have been used. In addition, the wood comes with a dating certificate indicating the approximate age of the tree.

The pen's wood body is turned to a barrel shape and finished with Pure Tung Oil and Carnauba-based Wax. The Tung Oil penetrates the wood to emphasize the grain and colour. The oil does not contain artificial thinners or cure-accelerants and is approved for food-contact items. The Carnauba-based wax forms a light 'skin' finish which serves as an additional layer of protection. The combination of the two finishes emphasize the beauty of the wood while preserving its natural feel.

Both the rollerball and fountain pen hardware are finished in sterling silver with black titanium accents.

The rollerball pen comes with a fine-tipped (0.6mm) ceramic roller refill from Schmidt. The rollerball tip ensures smooth and even lines to your hand-writing.

The fountain pen comes with an Iridium Point fine nib manufactured in Germany and takes an ink well or a prefilled cartridge. The pen is uninked and will ship with the ink well attachment only. The prefilled cartridges are susceptible to damage in cold temperatures and therefore are not shipped to protect your purchase.

To access the refill or the ink, simply unscrew the tip from the middle. In case of the rollerball pen, make sure you don't lose the spring that goes at the end of the refill.

Customization for this pen is not available due to the already black colour of the wood.
