Crafted from a piece of historic corduroy road wood that was discovered in uptown Waterloo during the Light Rail Transit system consturction in 2016. It is believed that the corduroy road has been built between 1790 and 1816 and comprised of elm and cedar trees. Although no official identification has been made, the wood resembles cedar.

The wood has been air-dried and then stabilized; however, this may only slow down the decay process to which it was exposed for over 200 years.

A numbered certificate accompanies every pen made from the corduroy road wood. Please note, the number of writing instruments created is limited.

The wood is turned to a barrel shape with any and all imperfections kept in place. The wood was then finished with Pure Tung Oil and Carnauba-based Wax. The Tung Oil penetrates the wood to emphasize the grain and colour. The oil does not contain artificial thinners or cure-accelerants and is approved for food-contact items. The Carnauba-based wax forms a light 'skin' finish which serves as an additional layer of protection. The combination of the two finishes emphasize the beauty of the wood while preserving its natural feel.

Customization is available. Customization comes in the form of an inscription of up to 5 words that will be burnt onto the wood in one or two lines matching, as closely as possible, the font you provide. To have your stylus customized, simply select 'Customize Body' in the customization option and upload an image with your text.

A truly unique wood that has survived for so many years. Own a piece of Waterloo's history. Complimentary velvet pouch is included with the purchase; the holder in the images is sold separately.

Note: the weight is in grams; the dimensions are in millimeters and shown as length of closed stylus by height of stylus with clip by largest diameter of the wooden body.
