This is a new wooden face to an old game and it's fascinating.

The tiles have Walnut core and Mappa burl veneer. Walnut is native to North America while Mappa is native to Europe, western Asia, and Nothern Africa. It's interesting to note that Mappa Burl is actually the burl produced by the Black Poplar tree, which is quite ordinary lumber. The yellow colour with darker freckels of the Mappa Burl stands out against the brown background of each hand drilled pip. Each of the twnty-eight tiles measure approximately 21mm x 43mm.

The domino case is made from a single block of Maple. The wood inside has been hollowed out to accomodate all the tiles. It has hidden hinges and a latch to keep the two halves closed.

The tiles and the case have been finished with Pure Tung Oil. The Tung Oil penetrates the wood to emphasize the grain and colour. The oil does not contain artificial thinners or cure-accelerants and is approved for food-contact items.

Customization for the dominos is available only on the case. Customization comes in the form of an inscription of up to 5 words that will be burnt onto the wood in one or two lines matching, as closely as possible, the font you provide. To have your domino set customized, simply select 'Customize Body' in the customization option and upload an image with your text.
