Hand-crafted from a single piece of Red Mallee Burl a tree native to Australia. The tree is short in stature and not available as lumber; but the tree does produce a lot burls. The burl has quite distinct sapwood and heartwood. The sapwood is yellowing to gray; whereas the heartwood is red in colour. The presence of sapwood in the same piece is quite rate and majority of the writing instruments will be done will be made from the heartwood.
The wooden body has a barrel shape and is finished with Pure Tung Oil and Carnauba-based Wax. The Tung Oil penetrates the wood to emphasize the grain and colour. The oil does not contain artificial thinners or cure-accelerants and is approved for food-contact items. The Carnauba-based wax forms a light 'skin' finish which serves as an additional layer of protection. The combination of the two finishes emphasize the beauty of the wood while preserving its natural feel.
The pen hardware is finished with chrome with gold accents. The threads at the back of the pen allow you to attach the cap giving you extra length and balance. The pen comes as a rollerball or a fountain pen.

- The fountain pen comes with an Iridium Point broad nib manufactured in Germany and takes an ink well or a prefilled cartridge.
