An exquisite pen whose hardware is designed by the accomplished pen designer David Broadwell. It features 3D art designs on the exposed accent rings, bands, and cap.
The stunning hardware is equally complemented by the ribbed pattern of a material that you wouldn't imagine can do that - a spruce cone. The Spruce cone is from one of several Ontarian cities - Woodstock, Hamilton, Guelph, or Kitchener. It has been cast in Red resin to preseve the cone during the machining process. The ribbed pattern is esentially the centre of the cone. The skull style pens portray the spine of the spruce cone best due to their large pen size.
The wooden body has a barrel shape and is finished with Pure Tung Oil and Carnauba-based Wax. The Tung Oil penetrates the wood to emphasize the grain and colour. The oil does not contain artificial thinners or cure-accelerants and is approved for food-contact items. The Carnauba-based wax forms a light 'skin' finish which serves as an additional layer of protection. The combination of the two finishes emphasize the beauty of the wood while preserving its natural feel.
The hardware components are cast, polished and plated with a durable two micron 22k gold plate and rhodium. The threads at the back of the pen allow you to attach the cap giving you extra length and balance. The pen comes as a rollerball or a fountain pen.
- The rollerball pen comes with a fine-tipped (0.6mm) ceramic roller cartridge refill from Schmidt.
- The fountain pen comes with an Iridium Point broad nib manufactured in Germany and takes an ink well or a prefilled cartridge.
