A pen or a pencil to go with you everywhere you want. Simply twist at the halves and write away!
Crafted from a Maple tree that has lived and died in Goderich ON. This particular maple tree has a miriad of colours, shades, and textures. For this particular writing instrument, the piece of wood displays an amazingly unique spalting figure against the yellowish colour of the Maple wood. Some of the wood 'veins' are also part of the pen and are exhibited as slight indentations in the wood.
The wooden body has a barrel shape and is finished with Pure Tung Oil and Carnauba-based Wax. The Tung Oil penetrates the wood to emphasize the grain and colour. The oil does not contain artificial thinners or cure-accelerants and is approved for food-contact items. The Carnauba-based wax forms a light 'skin' finish which serves as an additional layer of protection. The combination of the two finishes emphasize the beauty of the wood while preserving its natural feel.
The hardware has chrome finish and is available as a ballpoint pen or a mechanical pencil.
The ballpoint pen takes a standard Parker style refill. To access the refill, unscrew the mid section. Make sure you retain and install the spring on the new refill.
The mechanical pencil takes 0.5mm pencil leads. To access the eraser, separate the two halves; to access the lead chamber, remove the eraser.
Customization for this pen is available. Customization comes in the form of an inscription of up to 5 words that will be burnt onto the wood in one or two lines matching, as closely as possible, the font you provide. To have your pen customized, simply select 'Customize Tip Section' or 'Customise Clip Section' in the customization option and upload an image with your text.
This writing instrument might rarely leave your hand! Not only will you write with it constantly, but you'll show off this beautiful hand-crafted writing instrument to everyone around you. Complimentary velvet pouch is included with the purchase; the pen holder in the images is sold separately.
Note: the weight is in grams; the dimensions are in millimeters and shown as length of closed pen by height of pen with clip by largest diameter of the wooden body.
