Hand-crafted from the heartwood of Amboyna Burl, the pen showcases one of the most fascinating colour and grain pattern found in nature. The deep dark red heartwood, the natural presence and imperfections from the bark, and the swirly grain pattern paint a masterpiece. It is interesting to note that Amboyna is technically not a distinct species, but is the name of the burl wood from any of the Pterocarpus species, most commonly Narra (Pterocarpus indicus) and Burma Padauk (Pterocarpus macrocarpus). Both of these trees are native to South-East Asia. The presence of the heartwood and sapwood in one piece of Amboyna Burl is quite rare and any future pens may or may not have that combination.

The wood is turned to a barrel shape and finished with Pure Tung Oil and Carnauba-based Wax. The Tung Oil penetrates the wood to emphasize the grain and colour. The oil does not contain artificial thinners or cure-accelerants and is approved for food-contact items. The Carnauba-based wax forms a light 'skin' finish which serves as an additional layer of protection. The combination of the two finishes emphasize the beauty of the wood while preserving its natural feel.

The hardware is finished in Rhodium with Black Titanium accents and available as a rollerball or a fountain pen.

• The rollerball pen uses a fine-tipped (0.6mm) ceramic roller refill from Schmidt.
• The fountain pen comes with an Iridium Point medium nib manufactured in Germany and takes an ink well or a prefilled cartridge.
